Ore 9.30 ritrovo al presso la taverna il Nido dell’Aquila all’Orrido di Botri dove ritirare il pranzo al sacco.
L’escursione inizia percorrendo il sentiero aperto dalla milizia forestale, con la funzione di collegare la
caserma dell’Alpe con la caserma della Vetricia sopra Barga, fino ad intercettare il sentiero 013 che si snoda ad anello lungo la cornice dell’Orrido di Botri offrendo all’escursionista la possibilità di ammirare gli scenari selvaggi delle zone rupestri di Botri. Sono questi i luoghi cui nidifica l’aquila reale ed in cui è possibile osservare in volo anche altre specie di rapaci diurni. Si oltrepassano boschi di Faggio secolari autoctoni del territorio, boschi di Pino Bianco e rimboschimenti di conifere miste il cui impianto risale agli anni ’30. Il paesaggio è davvero spettacolare, si vede l’intera gola del Canyon dell’Orrido di Botri,Montefegatesi e tutta la vallata. Il percorso riprende scendendo lungo il sentiero che collega l’anello del Belvedere a Ponte a Gaio dove ci attenderà una gustosissima merenda presso la Presso la taverna il Nido dell’Aquila composta da ricco e gustoso tagliere a base di salumi e formaggi locali, pasta fritta e crostini caldi. Non mancheranno le ottime frittelle di castagne accompagnate dalla ricotta che l’azienda agricola di Vitalina produce all’Orrido di Botri da ben 3 generazioni.

We will cross woods of secular beech, woods of White Pine and reforestation of mixed conifers dating back to the 30s. Further than the woods we will cross pieces of grassland with bracken, shrubs, bramble and other species. The landscape is truly spectacular, you can see the entire gorge of the Canyon of Orrido di Botri, Montefegatesi and the entire valley. The route continues down along the path that connects the ring of Belvedere to Ponte a Gaio where a tasty snack will be waiting for us at the tavern "Il Nido dell'Aquila" consisting of rich and tasty platter of cold cuts and local cheeses, fried pasta and hot croutons. There will also be excellent chestnut pancakes accompanied by ricotta cheese that Vitalina's farm produces at Orrido di Botri for 3 generations.
